Your Chart Has Been Saying It For Years. Let Someone Read It Properly.

Your own chart, worked through by hand, step by step, in the order the old texts set out.

Roman walking down a narrow old-town street

– Hi, I'm Roman. I read charts the Hellenistic way. –

Maybe something brought you here.

Maybe a year that started fine has quietly gone sideways, and you can't tell whether it's you or the timing. Maybe there's one decision, one person, one city you keep circling back to. Maybe you've read your Sun sign a hundred times and it has never once said anything you didn't already know.

Your birth date, time and place give a precise, calculable sky. A reading works from that sky, and I always tell you which part is calculated and which part is my interpretation.

Why wonder that men can comprehend heaven, when heaven exists in their very beings and each one is in a smaller likeness the image of God himself?
Manilius

Astronomica IV, 1st century AD · tr. G. P. Goold

The oldest surviving astrological poem in Latin, on why a chart can describe a person at all.

Why I Read The Old Way

Most astrology online is a few sentences about your Sun sign, written for a twelfth of the planet at once. It's entertainment, and it's fine as entertainment. If it has always felt too vague to be useful, you were right.

The tradition I work in is the one written down in Hellenistic Alexandria and the Roman world: Ptolemy, Dorotheus, Vettius Valens, Paulus. It starts with sect, whether you were born by day or by night, because nothing else in the system works without it. Then each planet's condition, the aspects and the signs a planet cannot see at all, whole-sign houses, the Lots, and timing methods like annual profections and zodiacal releasing, which let a chart speak about when, not only what.

This technique was lost to the West for centuries and recovered from the 1990s, when Project Hindsight translated the Greek and Latin texts, chiefly through Robert Schmidt, with Robert Hand and Robert Zoller. Demetra George and Chris Brennan later turned it into a teachable practice. So the method rests on primary texts rather than a century of paraphrase, and it is also a young revival that is still being worked out. Both are true.

No country licenses astrologers, so every astrology certificate is a private course credential. I've studied from the translated sources directly. Every reading shows its working, so you can see exactly which step produced which statement.

Example chart, computed from the ephemeris: Valencia, 28 May 2010, 12:00. Whole-sign houses. The Sun is above the horizon (shaded), so it is a day chart. Lines inside show the close aspects: red for squares and oppositions, blue for trines and sextiles.

When your details arrive, I cast the chart and work through it in a fixed order, each step building on the one before:

1. Sect. Day chart or night chart, which decides which planets work for you and which are harder.
2. Condition. Each planet's dignity (domicile, exaltation, detriment, fall) and its phase with the Sun, such as whether it is hidden under the Sun's beams.
3. Aspects. Which planets see each other, and which are in aversion, unable to see each other at all.
4. Houses. Whole-sign houses, the system the ancient sources used and the one their house meanings were written for.
5. Lots. Fortune and Spirit, calculated differently for day and night charts.
6. Timing. Profections and zodiacal releasing set the periods; transits are read inside that picture, not on their own.

Zodiacal releasing from the Lot of Spirit, same example chart. Each sign holds a fixed number of years: Aquarius 30, Pisces 12, Aries 15, Taurus 8, Gemini 20. Birth Chart Reading

$35

23–30 pages · PDF

For you ifyou've never had your chart properly read and want the foundation before anything else.

I cast your chart in whole-sign houses, find your Ascendant and the planet that rules it, then go through the seven planets one by one: sign, house, and condition. Which are dignified and working well, which are in exile or fall and struggling, and how they see each other. Most apps tell you a planet is "in Leo" and stop there. The condition is what decides whether that placement is a strength or a sore spot.

Everything is written in plain language, with the measured astronomy and my interpretation kept clearly apart.

Rooted inwhole-sign houses and the seven traditional planets.

You receivea written reading of your natal chart as a designed PDF, with your chart wheel drawn as a clean image.

What's inside

  • Your chart wheel: all seven planets by sign, house and degree, plus your Ascendant and Midheaven
  • Your Sun, Moon and Rising, and how the three work together
  • Your chart ruler: which planet runs the chart and where it sits
  • The two or three loudest placements, and how each shows up in daily life

Ask One Question

$30

17–22 pages · PDF

For you ifthere's one specific thing you need looked at, without a whole life reading.

This is horary, one of the oldest branches of the craft: I cast a chart for the moment your question reaches me and read the question from it, using your birth chart for context. The reading stays on that one topic and shows the reasoning step by step, so you can weigh it yourself.

Rooted inhorary: the chart of the moment the question is asked.

You receivea short, direct written answer to one question, with the chart for the moment you asked it.

What's inside

  • A clear answer first: yes, no, or which way it leans
  • The reasoning in plain language: which planets stand for you and for the matter, and how they meet
  • A timing window, where the chart gives one
  • One grounded suggestion for what to do next
  • The question chart, drawn as an image

Money & Work

$40

28–35 pages · PDF

For you ifmoney, work or a career move is the question, and you want to know where your openings are and when.

I read the places the tradition uses for resources: the 2nd house of what you earn yourself, the 11th house of gains through other people, the Lot of Fortune, and Jupiter by sign, house and condition. I also name the friction plainly: where Saturn or a weak planet makes you undercharge, overspend or stall.

Rooted inthe Lot of Fortune, Jupiter, the 2nd and 11th houses, with profection timing.

You receivea written reading of where your resources come from and when they tend to flow, as a PDF.

What's inside

  • Where your Lot of Fortune sits, and the condition of its ruler
  • Your 2nd house of earned income and your 11th house of gains through others
  • Jupiter and Venus: where luck and ease actually run in your chart
  • Where the friction is: undercharging, overspending or stalling, and why
  • Timing windows from your current profection and transits
  • Two or three practical takeaways

Life Purpose

$40

35–45 pages · PDF

For you ifyou keep asking what you're actually meant to be doing.

The centre of this reading is the Lot of Spirit, the point the old astrologers tied to action and vocation. From it I run zodiacal releasing, which divides a life into chapters and flags the peak periods and turning points. I read it alongside your Midheaven and its ruler: the direction the chart keeps pointing.

  • Your Lot of Spirit and Midheaven: the direction the chart keeps pointing
  • Your North and South Nodes: where you're growing and the comfortable pattern to release
  • Your life chapters by zodiacal releasing, with the peak periods dated

Synastry / Compatibility

$60

50–60 pages · PDF

For you ifyou're trying to understand a relationship: new, long, or one you can't figure out.

I cast both charts in full first, so I understand each of you separately. Then I overlay them: the cross-aspects (your Venus to their Mars, your Moon to their Saturn), and the house overlays, which show what part of your life the other person lights up or weighs on.

“Look at Venus: where she is, and who are the first, second, and third lords of her triplicities”Dorotheus of Sidon · Carmen Astrologicum II.1

Rooted inDorotheus on marriage and the traditional rules for partnership in Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos, Book IV, read through each person's sect, plus modern synastry overlays, which I label as modern.

You receivea written reading of the relationship between two charts, with both wheels, as a PDF.

What's inside

  • Both charts in brief: each person's Sun, Moon and Rising
  • Where you flow: the contacts that create ease and attraction
  • Where you rub, and why: described as a difference in wiring, not a verdict
  • House overlays: which part of each life the other person lights up
  • Moon to Moon for emotional fit, Venus and Mars for attraction
  • Practical ways to work with the friction

Astrocartography Map

$45

28–35 pages · PDF

For you ifyou're weighing a move, or you've noticed some places make life easier and others never do.

At the minute you were born, each planet was rising, setting or overhead somewhere on earth. Plotted, those become lines on a map. Astrocartography is a modern technique, developed by Jim Lewis in the 1970s, not a Hellenistic one. What I add is the traditional reading: I keep the lines of your chart ruler and your benefic of sect, measure real distances from named cities to them, and check them against places you've already lived.

Rooted inmodern astrocartography, interpreted through your chart ruler and benefic of sect.

You receivea written reading with maps drawn for your chart, and real distances from cities to your lines, as a PDF.

What's inside

  • A world map with all seven planets' lines, plus a zoom on your continent
  • Close-up maps of the recommended areas
  • A table of every city checked: distance to the nearest line, and which house the key planets fall in there
  • The supportive places and the harder ones, each described in plain terms
  • The places you've already lived, measured against your lines so you can test the method yourself

Why Me

Roman writing up a reading in a notebook

I learned this from the old texts on purpose, because the modern shorthand never told me anything I could use. The Hellenistic technique is harder, and it's the part that actually says something.

I work from Valens, Dorotheus, Paulus and Ptolemy in translation, and every statement in a reading traces back to a named technique. If I can't show you where a claim comes from, it doesn't go in.

…the astrological data elucidated certain points which I otherwise would have been unable to understand.
C. G. Jung

Letter to B. V. Raman, 6 September 1947 · Letters, vol. 1

Jung used horoscopes as a psychologist, to see a difficult case from another angle. He never claimed the planets cause anything, and I don't either.

Questions People Ask

Do I need my exact birth time? It helps a lot. The time sets your Ascendant, your houses and the Moon's position. If you have it, even roughly, send it.

What if I don't know it at all? You can still get a real reading. I work from what holds without a time: planets by sign, their aspects, the slower cycles. I'll tell you plainly which parts I can and can't speak to. Many long-form birth certificates list the time, so it's worth checking.

How do I get it? As a PDF by email, usually within 3 days.

Is this a psychic reading? No. I calculate your chart from astronomical data and interpret it using a two-thousand-year-old technique. I always separate the calculation from the interpretation.

Is astrology scientifically proven? No, and I won't pretend otherwise. No branch of astrology has been validated by controlled testing. The best-known test, Shawn Carlson's double-blind study published in Nature in 1985, found astrologers couldn't match charts to personality profiles better than chance. I offer a reading as a structured way to reflect on your life, not as a proven forecast.

What won't you read for? I don't predict death or illness, and I don't read for medical questions, mental-health crises, pregnancy, legal or financial decisions. For those, please see the right professional.

Will you tell me something frightening? No. When a chart has a heavy placement I name it honestly and say what can be done with it. No curses, no doom.

Can you predict exact events? I give timing windows: the months a theme is active. I won't promise a specific event on a specific day. That's fortune-telling, and it isn't honest.

Which reading should I start with? Never had your chart read: Birth Chart. Want this year: Advanced. One decision: Ask One Question. A relationship: Synastry. Still unsure? Write to me.

Is my birth data kept private? It's used only to prepare your reading. See the privacy notice for how it's stored and when it's deleted.
